Facebook Support

[Update 2/25/2009] I am still communicating with Facebook on this issue. I am not sure why I am to be honest, maybe for laughs. My first reply got a reply back oh it’s just your computer, try another. I told them this is why I contacted support, I tried it on three different computers, two of them have similar configurations but not identical. I got the lovely reply of: “Oh! It’s not your computer, it is actually your ISP! Not our site.” Are you kidding me? My ISP blocked one specific link on your site? uhm ok, sure buddy. This is what I just replied with a minute ago:

I would again, sadly, disagree with your guess, sorry. I will give you information as to why your guess of ISP is incorrect, and quite absurd. Not having worked with code and such, at an ISP level, I will have to guess that an ISP would only block malicious code. If my ISP (which serves 50k+) did block this code, again it falls on Facebook, for multiple reasons, seeing that I could use other sites using JavaScript and AJAX. If it was my ISP blocking the link, and redirected it (as I outlined), it would mean that Facebook’s coding methods set off the ISP “bad code, must block” filter, which I am assuming just is the bad stuff. If a link of Facebook set this filter off, as you think it did, then it would be a Facebbok issue, unless you think my ISP should disable its’ firewall for Facebook. Which would not be logical. As I stated, if my ISP’s “bad code” filter did go off, it is going out of it’s way to bring me to safety, I would argue that my ISP would just bounce me out and say “this site will harm your computer.” If my ISP did block all javascript from Facebook, that would mean that most of Facebook would not work, again this would mean bad/insecure techniques by Facebook.

Funny enough this e-mail bounced, and could not be sent, I tried twice. Guess that adventure is over, I get concerned when I read over these e-mails. I am told to first disable various security features, next try another computer. I have no complaints about this, thinking something was up with my browser then my computer. I actually tried four browsers and three computers prior to contacting support. Then, stating this, it was a problem with my ISP blocking the code. That is a wee bit high on the chain for me while saying it isn’t our fault.

Peter: Scroll to the bottom of any page, in the footer, there should be a set of links, one of which is help. On the Help page parts of Facebook are broken down. Pick the one that suits you the best. Most sections have 2-3 pages of FAQs, usually on the second or third page, it has my question isn’t here so ask us link.
