Well if you are using the WordPress.com Stats Plugin, there is a slight bug or an annoyance. If you don’t put the full title you want prior to the first time it auto saves, it will be the partial title, or the all lovely: ?p=123. I just started noticing this a few days ago, my last post, I didn’t know what to exactly say for a title, so now in WP.com Stats’ database, it shows up as “Kid Vote” or something along those lines.

I just logged in here not too long ago, and saw that I had new spam comments. Usually I just hit delete all, and go on my way. But I decided to take a quick look to see what lovely things I got spammed with. I saw that the name was the same as mine so a thought that our friendly spammers were just getting smart. I looked again and saw that the comment was actually a comment which I had posted a while ago. I scrolled down some more, and found that a number of previously legit comments were marked as spam.

Yesterday I upgraded to WordPress 2.5.1, as well as upgraded the Askimet plugin. So, just do a quick look before you hit delete all.

I heard a ton of buzz around the new version of WordPress. One, or rather, the only thing I heard about is the beautiful admin panel. I could not be more dissatisfied with it! Why you ask?

While I the layout is nothing special, except for the write a post page, the color scheme is terrible. The first time I saw it, I had to look away do to the colors. I am quite sorry to say, who ever has designed the admin panel, needs to read up on contrasting. Considering the panel came from Happy Cog Studios, which is headed by Jeffrey Zeldman, this just makes me even more sad.

Sidenote About the Write a New Post Page

I have to give this a thumbs down as well. It seems like it is set for somebody who is blogging in the contributer or writer role, not an administrator. On my 17-inch screen, I have to scroll to get to one of WordPress’ key features, the categorizing of the post. Seeing how I am a big keyboard user, all this makes me do is use the mouse more. I will leave out the minimal access you get if you navigate by keyboard in the most important part of the panel.

So, in conclusion, the biggest thing that was widely acclaimed about, is nothing but disappointment for me. The one thing that is particularly nice is the built-in feeling of the WordPress Stats plugin. I cannot wait until the Popularity Contest plugin gets updated.

We all want to hit success at some point, in some shape or form. With blogs, it could be number of hits you get as a whole, on a certain post, or the same thing with comments. Early on, in my last blog I had, I was only getting a few dozen hits a day, incidentally about as much as this blog is getting currently. Not really thinking, I copied and pasted one of those e-mails that get forwarded every now and then. After a few days, I noticed a slight jump in hits.

This was just under two years ago, and I still get hits daily for that post. I am shocked, a few days ago, I have gotten just under 950 hits for that post. I wish that all of my posts or just my blog in general got that many on a regular basis. But, I think I write half-decent things, although I don’t get much attention from it.

What somebody considers a top blog could be total crap to somebody else. What I find quite amusing is the blogs that have a lot of comments on every post are about blogging. I don’t quite understand why that is. Back when the idea of blogging came about, the purpose of it was to make it so easy to do, that nearly anybody could do it. You find a number of blogs telling you how you should blog.

Now I know I shouldn’t be talking since I don’t have a ton of posts or even a ton of comments on here. But then again, I am not really trying. Yeah, I hit a peak back in February ‘06 when I was blogging on a daily basis, and had a small group of followers. I killed that off because when I asked are you commenting to boost stats for a new comment service, they told me yes.

The other day I came across Stripe Generator 2.0 while browsing, after playing around with it, I started to play around with the theme I have. Then I started thinking, why do I keep doing these minor edits, when I can do everything from the start and leave it. The theme I have started with is fSpring by Fredrik Fahlstad, here is a demo of fSpring. Quite a change huh?

I am currently developing the theme as a flat file for ease, but will be converting it to PHP later on. It won’t be too hard I don’t think, the biggest concern of mine is getting it finished. Which won’t be for quite a while because of school.

I have been playing around with a few ideas, some that I have seen in some templates that have the look I am going after, but those aren’t too widely used. I am hoping to have it done soon, but I would still need to convert it to the appropriate files for WordPress.

[Update:] I started this post just over a month ago, and this is how busy I am…I decided to keep what I have now.

All you WordPress users may have heard that WordPress version 2.2 has been released. One feature that was talked about, but was eventually left out until version 2.3 (maybe) is a tagging feature, which I assume is like the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin. I was hoping for this to be included in this round of updates.

I originally didn’t want to update, because it seemed as though widgets were required to use. A while back, I did a post on how widgets effected my blog. I figured out that if you empty the widget sidebar, it will read the hand coded version. Thank god!

One thing I do not like is the new way you preview your post. Which is, instead of just hitting save, scrolling to the bottom of the page, and see the preview, you now have to hit save then click on the preview link just under the title block. Well, I am mainly a keyboard user, meaning that I hardly touch the mouse when I use a computer, whether that’s for looking at a website, or general usage. The preview link is not accessible via any conventional ways. The only way you can access it, via the keyboard, is use Firefox’s find feature.

It will be interested to see what will be included, both in version 2.2.x and 2.3.

What she did was went to a “random” post and told me how much my blog sucked. Well see her randomness isn’t too random. She picked the first post on page two to leave her note. In response to her, yes I blog, and will blog in the future about accessibility. Why? Cause I care about it, and oh yeah, I get paid to think about it. Also, not too many people know about it, so providing my insights will just help others learn.

Last night a long awaited unveiling of the oh-so-wanted wordpress.com stats plug in. I accidentally came across the post when I was just surfing around. I installed it a few moments later. The post says that stats will kick in approximately 20 minutes after you install it. I am not quite sure if that is entirely correct. Like I said, I installed it about an hour or so after the plug in came official yet it still reads that I have no hits.

Update: I forgot to put the footer tag in last night.
